This course will introduce key definitions and terminology for the basics of computers and Windows applications.   Topics covered include safe start-up and shutdown procedures, use of the mouse and its various image forms, saving and naming files to the hard drive and floppy drive.   You will experience using basic menus and icons.  This course is helpful for Windows 95, 98 and NT4 users.

This course provides techniques for organizing your computer information by creating files, folders and shortcut icons.  Techniques for using the Find and Help features are reviewed.   Customizing desktop and basic toolbar features are also presented.  Some experience with word processing is recommended as a pre-requisite.

You will learn to create, edit, print and save documents using Microsoft Word.  Moving text, formatting lines, setting margins and changing fonts and type size are some of the techniques that will be presented, demonstrated and practiced.  You will also learn the spell check and grammar check features.

You will learn how to create headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes and columns.  Steps in creating merged documents, developing tables, using formulas and page numbering will be demonstrated and practiced.  You will gain experience using templates for simplifying word processing tasks.
Prerequisite: Experience with basic word processing, including formatting.

The full day session covers table of contents and indexes, endnotes and footnotes for long documents.  Mail merging, simple macros, and editing templates are demonstrated.  Creating and using styles will be offered along with outlining techniques.

In this workshop you will learn about the ways a spreadsheet can be utilized.  You will create and edit a worksheet, use formulas for simple automatic calculations and sort information.  You will get an overview of some of the more complex features of this software.
Prerequisite: Some experience using a keyboard and a mouse recommended.

You will learn increase your ability to use functions and formulas.  Steps in customizing headers and footers and for creating and editing charts and maps will be introduced.  Sorting and filtering techniques will be practiced.  You will also learn how to import data from other documents into your Excel worksheets.
Prerequisite: Some experience with basic Excel.

In this full-day session, students will learn how to extract information from a spreadsheet using if/then conditional statements and thevertical and horizontal look-up features.  Advanced sorting and chart formatting techniques will be demonstrated and practiced.  The use of Excel as a database will be explored.

This workshop will introduce you to the basics of planning a presentation (slides, overheads and handouts) using menus, toolbars, drawing tools and special effects.  You will actually develop a presentation individually or in a group.
Prerequisite: Some experience with a mouse and basic word processing required.

This workshop is an introduction to database development.  You will learn to create, format and edit a database worksheet and to extract information from sample databases through the query and report functions.   Various applications of databases for business and home use will be discussed.
Prerequisite: Experience using a mouse and introductory knowledge of a spreadsheet such as Excel recommended.

In this workshop you will learn how to import data into an Access database and to insure data integrity with table relationships.   You will learn to use wizards to create queries, forms and reports.  You will practice designing forms with combo boxes, check boxes and toggles.  You will also learn to generate labels from an Access database.
Prerequisite: Some experience with Access.

This half-day course will introduce Microsoft Outlook features.  The focus will be on the calendar and scheduling features.

This half-day course will introduce the communications features of Microsoft Outlook.  The focus will be on using the Address Book, e-mail and special automatic telephone features.

This class will show the power of Microsoft Word to create eye-catching flyers, along with professional newsletters, using WordArt, clip art, Auto Shape and Paint.
